The book speak turned out to be one of the better books I have read before. The story line just kept the reader hook to the book. Also the book speak just had a good story line that had many questions involved so the reader had to keep reading. I choose this book for a couple of reason. First reason being my mom teaches the book at Loveland and suggested it to me. Second reason is my tutor said it is a good book. Last reason is the summary of the book online just sounded good. After reading the book there where no personal connections that I had. I think someone who would like this book needs to like questions. There are many questions in this book that can carry on for chapters long. Also some one who does not mind if the main character is depressed.  This book was an easy read for me, not to challenging. I had to reread some sections of the book to be prepared  for  some rereading.  Someone who does not like rereading passages or section in the book should not read this book. Some books that are like this are the perks of being a wallflower. They both have similar story lines.
The book speak is turning into one of those books you can not  put down. There are so many parts of the book that hook the reader into reading more. The part of the book speaks that hooked the reader the most was when Melinda was telling her story of what happen at that party. Melinda started off by first hooking the reader into wanting to know about her story. The author did this by setting the stage in Melinda high school. Melinda was walking around and was saying to her self how all these people where giving her bad looks in the hall way. Also how these people used to be her friend. So the reader felt bad for her and wanted to know what happened to her. The reason why the author went with a sad section of the book was to make the reader wonder why. Why is Melinda getting bad looks? Why is Melinda have no friends? If the reader reads this section of the book they get drawn in by all of these unanswered question the circle around Melinda. The unanswered questions make the reader want to keep reading and find out the answers. The author did a good job with this in my opinion because it made me want to keep reading and find those answered.

In the book Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, there are a lot of characters. The main character is a girl named Melinda. Melinda is a sophomore who has lost her way with her own social life. She has little to no friends anymore. Also her grades are dropping quickly. This brings us to her parents; I don’t yet know their names because they were referred to as Mom and Dad in the book. Melinda's mom wants her daughter to do well in school. She also does not like when her husband buts-in to her yelling at Melinda. Melinda’s dad also wants Melinda to do her very best in school. He is also very good at Arnold Schwarzenegger impressions.
Melinda has teachers just like any other school student. Mr. Stetman is her algebra teacher. Mr. Stetman is described as a normal guy who is just in love with algebra. Also Mr. Neck is a history teacher who is really big on school pride. Melinda seems to enjoy his class. David Petrakis is just one of those students who never gets in trouble. He is extremely smart and kids are jealous of him. Heather is one of Melinda's only friends; she has her whole life planned out in high school. She wants to grow up to be a nurse.

Some themes that are beginning to surface in the book Speak are depression and memory. I feel that the depression is going to end up being the main theme of the book. Just by now I have read about half of the book and Melinda keeps to herself and sits in back of her class rooms. She seems like she just wants to lock herself away and cry. Memory is also a very strong theme in the book Speak. Melinda is the main character who just cannot get over the memory of one night in her life. A memory of a few hours that will haunt her for the rest of her life. The memory of the time she was raped. Which brings me to the structure of the book. The structure is all about tone and how Melinda does not want to do anything.

I have started reading the book Speak. So far I am really enjoying the book, most of all the tragic story line. It is about a student who goes to Merry Weather high school. She was every girl's dream: she had friends, she had the looks, and most of all she was popular. Well at least she used to be all of those things. Her name is Melinda Sordino, the girl who lost everything. She lost all of her friends and people just look down on her in school. Melinda also lost her popularity, but still had her looks. The reason why all this happened was because she made one phone call, one decision that changed her social life upside down.

The summer before school her sophomore year she was at a party. A party with people who are underage were drinking alcohol. Somewhere during the party Melinda was raped. She called the cops and when the cops got there, they saw under age kids drinking. I do not know yet if people were arrested, but I predict that people did and the cops did not know about the rape? I think maybe someone ripped the phone out of Melinda's hand before she could report it. But what I do not understand is the why? Why did Melinda not tell anyone about the rape? Maybe she was scared or embarrassed? I predict that sometime during her sophomore year she will tell someone what really happened that night. I feel like this book is similar to the Perks of Being a Wallflower. They are both about teen girls in high school and their stories. I think that Speak has a better story line, but they are still similar books.

The thing teenagers look forward to the most it when they turn 16 and take their driving test. That is of course if they past their test and go to driving school. But why is driving school so long? Why do you half to go? Teenagers wounder theses questions all the time. The answer is they half to and they must learn sometime.
Most people say that teenagers should half to wait longer to get their lances. If they waited till they are older people would say the same thing make them wait. If they keep having to wait when will they learn. The truth is that most teenage drivers are good and responsible and it is the select few that messes it all up.

Think of that perfect day where you wake up and feel like you are on top of the world. When you get in the shower and the water is warm bouncing off your skin. And when you walk out side you hear the birds singing in the sky. You feel the air that is not to hot and not to cold. Well "she" came home from school and was happy just very happy.
She was so happy that when she got home from school she did not mind doing her chores.  " When I got home, I had to mow the lawn for my allowance, and I didn't mind it one bit." Of course a little money wont hurt anything. She realized that your whole day can swing to better or worse just by how you wake up and start the day.

I have just finished part one of the perks of being a wallflower. The first part was about her starting high school. At least I think it is a girl i am not completely sure. The whole thing with her/him eeping their name a secret is really confusing. It makes the book a lot more harder to keep up with. She has been talking about new information she is learning in school. Like how her sisters boy friend hits her a lot. She is very confused by this.

She is learning all kinds of things she did
not know before. Like how people skip class to go for a smoke or people cheat on test. She sees people kissing and wonders why does Sam not like her. Weather or not she enjoys learning new things she has to and wants to fit in.

Would you want someone to know everything you think or everything you see? Would you want people to know who you are when they are readying your "diary"? Well the author of The Perks of Being a Wallflower wants his name and evryone in his books name to be fake. He makes up fake names to hide identies of the people. This book describes her whole high school experience and how she beat a boy up. How she walked in on her sister and her boyfriend. This book took a lot to publish and her identity being hidden makes the read more interesting.

You get into the life of a normal high school girl. She watches her sister get beat by her boyfriend. She watches as people in the hallwyas look at her weird. She talks out a boy named "Nothing". It is not his real name his real name is Patrick and everyone called him patty on the play ground. "Listin, you eaither call me Patrick, or you call me nothing." She tells the storys of other kids too not just hers.

Think about the millions of jobs out there. Could there be one that is harder then all the rest? I just recently watched a video on what is the hardest job in the world. It does not pay anything at all. You work 24 hours a day 365 days a year. You half to get up in the middle of the night to check on them. You half to make sure they get on and off the bus. Take them to there friends house and sport events. You even half to make them feel warm when they are sick. Listin to them when they are sad.

The mother in my book is a mother of eight kids. She lives in the time with out cell phones and babey monditors. She has to get up to check on her eight kids by her self. Too make it even harder she is a single mom. Ellen however has the help of the older child Jethro but how much help could he really be. Ellen just had to deal with one of her kids haveing a heart attack. Ellen wants everything for her kids. She over comes haveing to work on a farm and raise eight kids, all by her self.

Imagine a mother having to get up in the middle of the night to check on her crying kids every 45 minutes. Well Ellen woke up to just that a sick kid. Matt had a fever and was not looking to good. He was couching and throwing up. Ellen was really worried about Matt. Matt wanted to go into town to get the guy who hurt his brother Jethro. Ellen said ok he could go but to thank Mr. Burdow for helping Jethro.

A few minutes past as Matt heads to town. Ellen all of a sudden hears a loud noise. She run out side to investigate only to find Matt on the ground. Matt was having a hart attack! Ellen ran inside to call the doctors. When the doctors got their Matt was in very bad shape. How ever they where able to revive him. Matt escaped a bad morning but still intent on getting to town. Ellen thinks other wise.

Krista Ramsey wrote a blog called Still reflecting on act of vandalism on Opening Day. This was about Krista being at the parade and not being able to see over the crowed. She looks back to see a son and a parent standing on top of plants. They did this to get a better view but at the cost of killing the plants. Her lesson was that together society is pretty but if you choose to vandalism thing your society will look bad. They where destroying someone else plants for there own amusement and disregarding that they where costing the local business money.
http://www.cincinnati.com/story/opinion/columnists/krista-ramsey/2014/04/12/krista-ramsey-vandalism/7659161/
The line that was best written and had the most impact on the reader was "At the end of the day, you – me, all of us – might do well to pause a minute and consider the view of the world we claim for ourselves and, in getting it, the view of ourselves we leave behind." She used dashes to add more emphasis on that everyone leaves a mark on society and the world. You deiced how others view you as a person and as a community member. Everyone has an impact on the world, you decided weather or not it will be a good impact or not. The world does not belong to any one person it belongs to everyone. All people must contribute in a good way to make the world a better place. Standing on the flower was a bad impact on society. How she reversed the words view to give it too separate meanings was clever. The first on how you view the world has to do with arrogance. How the world views you is how other people see you and judge you.

In all of Krista Ramsey articles she used a very conversational style of writing. this makes her writing very easy to read and to understand. She tells true story that can be easily related to. Stuff we can imagine our self doing in real life. Her writing always has a message.
Question number one: Why do you love the earth so much?
Question number two: where do you get your ideas?
Question number three: Where did you grow up?

Think of coffie and how important it is to life and what u would do with out it. When the little things go away people change and can become mad. Do to the setting and being during a war Ellen is haveing really bad headache because coffie supplies where running out. The country is devoting everything to the war so stuff like coffie gets left out. Ellen head was really starting to hurt and she send Jethro to go get some.

Jethro gets sent to the town and get stoped by a family friend that asks for a few things and ask about the war. It was fifteen miles from the house to the town. Jethro gets the stuff in town as he walks around he sees rich and poor. He see people around a fire that are poor and look horrible. He thinks to himself that he does have it better then most people but can improve.

Around this time period there is a war going on. But it is the country vs them self's they are killing and hurting themselves. For the citizens they dont know what side to pick or be on it is completely out of control. Especially for this family from Southerner Illinois. It is summer time and it will be distractful for most to keep there mide off the war going on in there own back yard. Right around this time the battle of Bull Run is under way. " And everyone realizes this will be a longer, harder battle than they thought."
There have benn news of the nort looseing a battle in Missouri. A Union commander and many soldiers from Illinois died there. Not only does this mother have a lot of kids and a farm to look out for there are many of here friends dieing. many people from the state dieing. This was not a good time for the North.

Picture a mom in a store with no free hands, one hand on the cart, child, items while telling her kids to stop running around. In the book Across Five Aprils a mom of twelve children. Her name is Ellen Creighton. Ellen works on a farm, her nine year old son Jethro helps her plant potato's for the summer. A sad part of this family is that four of the twelve children have died. She is tire every day she goes to Jethro when she needs help for something, she can always rely on her son Jethro. Jethro has had three siblings that have died from a desise. Jethro was lucky enought not to get it. The desises is called children Paralyisis.

His mom belives that jethro is a one of a kind child one sent from heaven to help her on the farm and day to day. They live in a bad area of war and fighting. the area is split up into two halves the North and the South. This story takes place during the american revolution. There was talk about Abraham lincons election of free states and slave states. A rebellion was on hands and a war was going to start.

I have begone reading the book The Alchemist it is about the legend of Narcissus. Narcissus sits by the lake in this legend he falls in to the lake and never surfaced again. The god of the forest came and turned the lake that Narcissus died into a lake of salty tears. the god was wondering why the lake choose him and the lake replied that is was interested in Narcissus eyes when they looked down at the river. The god feels very upset and betraied that the lake took Narcissus.

The down side to this book so far is that it is in third person. I don't normally read books that are in third person I mostly like first person books. Also, the whole back story with the legend and all can be very confusing at first but once you understand it the book becomes way clearer. You might half to look up what the back story is to get a better understanding of the book.

After reading chapter one I just could not put the book down. Chapter one of Education of little tree was about Little Tree moving in with his grandparents. In the second chapter Little tree and his grandpa went hunting. They set up a turkey trap, that covered a hole with a few branches and leaves. Little tree and his grandpa use this hurting time to grow closer together. Little Tree needs new guidance and love back in his life after loosing his mom and dad.  The following day, there were some quails in the tree and a Hawk was looking for some food.

Little Tree saw the hawk kill an animal and he was sad. He was wondering why the hawk killed it, why did it eat is. Little Tree's grandpa said, “Don’t feel sad Little Tree. This is the way of life. Grandpa explains to Little tree that the slow did and the slow don't reproduce. That the hawk only takes what it needs no more no less. They went back to the Turkey trap and there where six Turkeys in the hole. But they only need there. Little Tree got to pick which three they would take. Little Tree chose the three weakest. Little Tree had chosen right.

Finally the NFL is about to get their fist openly gay player. This year Michael Sam from Missouri is going into the NFL draft. He is defenses end but can play line backer. As of right now his draft stock is really good. The NFL team Washington Redskins had the first African American QB. They take pride in beeing the first team. Just like how I take pride in my grades! What ever team drafts him will take pride in having a good player but most of all having the first openly gay player.
Being gay does and never did mean you could not play in the NFL. It was just looked at differently and look down upon because of the locker room situation. This is a big step for the NFL. Michael Sam is a role model for gay kids every where.

I just got reading the book Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. A character that interested me was Guy Montage. He is the main character in the book. He lives in a town that burns books and books are illage to read. At first he just hid books in his house and did not read them. Then he met this girl who changed his life forever. She makes him start thinking about is this really what he wants. Her deepest question to Montage was are you happy.

Montage starts to wounder whats in the books after a women kills herself with her books. He wonders what are in books to make someone want to kill them self over them. He tells Mildred his wife that he has the books. Mildred and montage start to read the books. Montage gets a call for his fire station to come burn his house. Montage went from just haveing books to reading them just because some girl started to make him think.

I have started reading the education of little tree by Forrest Carter. This book was written in 1976 about a young boy named Little Tree. He had just found out that his mother died and he was being raised by his grandparents. On his way to his new house he was sitting on the bus with his grandparents. He experienced some racism you could say but he did  not really realize it. The bus driver and the people on the bus where being racist and making racist Indian sounds towards Little Tree and his grandparents.

Little Trees grandparents live in a cabin on the top of a mountain. Little Trees grandpa is one with the mountain. He talks to the mountain just like the mountain talks to him. He communicates with the trees and the life all throughout the mountain. Will Little Tree find his way with the mountain. Will the mountain find its way with Little Tree.

I have started reading Fahrenheit 451 by. Ray Bradbury. Fahrenheit 451 is about a man called Montage who works as a fireman. He burns books everyday and thinks he likes his life. He is married to Mildred who lives for TV. Mildred takes pills and trys to kill her self. She does not remember or think she would do anything like that when Montage confronts her the next morning. Montage get confronted by his new neighboor Clairsse. Clairsse is 16 almost 17 and is insane. She is not really insane but she says she is. She is a real odd ball.

Clairsse asks Motage is he is happy and then Montage starts questioning his life. She walks home with him when they first met. It was really weird because she is young and it was really late at night. Montage even started to think that she must have been waiting for him. When Montage got home he finds his wife lifeless on the bed. He calls some home docter service thing. They come it is too guys. They bring in there equiptment and pump her stomach and leave right away.
